Entry requirements

Video

requirements

1. All videos must be within 5 minutes, and only new and previously unpublished recordings.

2. For contemporary (solo) and honkyoku (solo) performances live recording is required. The video must have a consistent sound, be unedited and have no sound effects. (Camera angles and other video edits are permitted.)

3. The shakuhachi audio in the video must be played by the participants themselves, and the judges have the right to ask the participants to provide the original files of the shakuhachi single-track recordings to verify the authenticity of the recordings when in doubt.

4. the sound appearing in the video must be consistent with the sound of the instrument appearing on the screen.

5. the video must show the participant's own performance, and the video should be mainly about the scene of the participant or his group playing.

6. The video should not contain any information that obscures the picture, and the song title and the name of the performer must be filled in the registration system (which does not appear in the video).

7. Video format only: mp4, avi, wmv, m4v, flv, mov; resolution: 720×480 or 1920×1080 (1920×1080 recommended)

8. Works other than classical pieces or folk pieces of unknown origin require participants to confirm that they have the right to use the work. If the work is a cover, the participant should also confirm that they have the right to use the work. The organizing committee will not be responsible for any legal liability arising from disputes including (not limited to) portrait right, reputation right, privacy right, copyright, trademark right, etc. In case of such disputes, the organizer reserves the right to disqualify the participant and retract the awarded prize money.

Note

1. Participants must register on the website by June 30, 2022; completed online video submission deadline is July 31.

2. Each participant is able to submit in multiple categories and is limited to one award, from which multiple finalists will be selected to compete for the prize in each category.

3.The contest does not accept works that contain any of the following. 

  (1) Illegal content prohibited by law or administrative regulations. 

  (2) Incitement of racial hatred or racial discrimination. 

  (3) Rumors, falsehoods, or that which would disturb social order.  

  (4) Obscenity, gambling, violence, terror and/or other potentially criminal content. 

  (5) Insulting or slandering others and infringing on their legitimate rights and interests.

Ensemble group

Classical to contemporary repertoire, minimum of 2 persons (or 1 performer + background track), no maximum number. Ensembles / accompanists can play any instrument, including electronic instruments, and can include a background track.
